#15 Agile 101 : Part-3 Frameworks & Methodologies
2 min readJul 25, 2023
Agile Over the years, various Agile frameworks and methodologies have emerged, each offering its unique approach to implementing Agile principles. Some of the most popular Agile frameworks include:
- Scrum: Scrum is one of the most widely used Agile frameworks. It divides the development process into short iterations called “sprints,” typically lasting two to four weeks. During each sprint, the team focuses on delivering a set of prioritized features, creating a potentially shippable product increment. Scrum teams hold daily stand-up meetings (daily scrums) to coordinate and track progress.
- Kanban: Kanban is a visual management method that focuses on continuous delivery. Work items are represented as cards on a Kanban board, and the flow of work is tracked as it moves through different stages of development. The emphasis is on limiting work in progress (WIP) to optimize workflow and ensure smooth delivery.
- Extreme Programming (XP): XP is an Agile methodology that emphasizes engineering practices and collaboration among team members. XP practices include pair programming, test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration, and frequent releases. It is well-suited for teams seeking to maintain a high level of code quality and responsiveness to customer needs.
- Lean Software Development: Inspired by lean manufacturing principles, Lean Software Development focuses on delivering value to customers with minimal waste. It emphasizes continuous improvement, empowering teams, and reducing unnecessary processes or activities.
- Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM): DSDM is an Agile framework that provides a structured approach to project management while emphasizing frequent delivery and collaboration. It includes principles such as prioritization, timeboxing, and iterative development.
